About the Role

As a Nursing Assistant within the Paediatric Learning Disabilities Service, you will work under the guidance of registered nurses, offering support in a variety of community settings.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Direct Care: Assisting children and young people on a one-on-one basis or in group settings.
  • Guidance and Support: Providing advice to families, carers, and professionals to promote well-being and inclusion.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, including education and social care professionals.

Key Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role should demonstrate the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working with children and young people, especially those with learning disabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to ensure effective collaboration with families and professionals.
  • The ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high standard of care.
  • Proficiency in using computers for documentation and communication.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • Certification in positive behavior support or related areas.
  • Familiarity with topics such as continence care, sleep management, and puberty-related issues.
  • Prior experience working with families in community settings.

This position requires an enhanced DBS disclosure and a valid driver’s license, as it involves travel to community settings.
