How to Make Good Decisions That Produce Success

From the time the world begins; humans have always made plans and have always try to put thoughts into action. The average individual can easily carry out any thought he feels is the solution to a particular problem. Although this is not the issue at stake, we are talking about a plan, which has a higher probability of its outcome being a success.

What is decision-making?

It is the act of taking a properly calculative step when planning to take action against a particular problem. It is also a systematic procedure towards achieving a purpose. Again, decisions can be thoughts made as plans to take effect immediately or in the future. When we think of the future it can be sooner or years after.

When we talk of a decision-making process that produces success, we gear our mind towards such things as:

  • Properly calculative thoughts
  • Using a careful procedure
  • Achieving the best solution

Many people make decisions that relate to their different areas of endeavor. When they make those decisions the outcome either produces a negative or positive result. Although, no one wants to make a plan and receive failure as a result. For this reason, we first look at these 3 perspectives as the list above.

1. A properly calculative thought

Decisions are a little bit of thanking put together as having proffered a solution. Therefore, when conceiving those thoughts, you need to have a careful thought of it overnight. Give it an extra time, if possible, seek a second party opinion, then compose with your opinion before conclusions.

2. Using a careful procedure

This is taking a means towards achieving an action. It is a root from careful calculations.

3. Achieving the best solution

People make decisions and fail in their decision all because they lack a good decision-making process. A decision that produces success has pass-through proper planning.

Let us look at the 5 processes an individual can take in other to produce success when making decisions in life

Understand the issue

Issues are problems and the decisions you make in life are directed towards solving a particular issue. You cannot resolve without understanding the problem you are facing. It is like not having the knowledge of how to ride a car but you dive into a car and get hold of the key, immediately kick start the engine.

What do you think will happen? It is either going to be ghastly or fatal. That is how every decision-making is. A clear understanding of the issue you are deciding upon includes the complete knowledge of the circumstance surrounding the very issue. What is the issue all about? What would happen without such an issue? What will equally happen if you disregard it.

Point out the positive aspects

Everything in life has its good and bad surface. When trying to point out the positive aspect of a problem you begin to ask questions as to what profit can I derive from this issue? What good result will evolve from it?  Can it be of benefit to me or some other person around? How secure and beneficial are the means to achieving success in this issue. Answering all these questions will give you one step to achieving a good result.

Evaluate the negative aspect

Many people make irrational decisions that result from carelessness. While sometimes, it becomes a consequence of ignorance, not being able to seek opinions from people around. Sometimes when we do things, we only tend to imagine the brighter side of it, while forgetting the dark side as well. In the process of trying, to make decisions you ask questions as what are the consequences of this action?

will the consequences be resolved? How many people will the outcome affect or will it be just me alone? Definitely, for every decision that people take in life, there must be a positive aspect that benefits you and a negative aspect that possess a loss to you or someone else.

Balance the positive to outweigh the negative

Finally, you have given thought to both sides of the issue. It is like engaging in a business where you have already made some expenses and now you are expecting the profit. Cause of this, you need to make sure your profit covers every expense you make. Therefore, in balancing your decision-making, make sure beforehand that as you are putting your decision into action the result of your decision will be beneficial to you and everyone it affects. A good decision will only give room to little or no-lose at all.

Achieving the best result

Great! You have done your evaluation on the four processes above, but do not rejoice yet because that is not the end. Now, you need to keep aside your evaluations and then proceed to seek advice from a second party. First, put forward your problem and demand a solution. Don’t tell the person your evaluations and what your conclusions are. Allow him to proffer his solution, ask about the negative and positive aspects. Then it is time you present your evaluation and compare both decisions. You will surely produce an overall solution for success.
